ED Herod (born February 8) better known by his stage name Spin Sista Spin is an American songwriter, producer, and remixer. Hailing from Dallas, TX, he is an independent artist.
Started making music when he was a DJ. Delivering his first song, named ‘Dystopia’ back in 2020. He started out remixing under the name Nick York. Then, transitioned to Spin Sista. His main genre of music is Pop, R&B, Synth-wave (fave), Hip Hop, Rock, Dance, pretty much all.
When he was a DJ, the in-house tech would always say “what’s spin sista?!!” he hated it for about 3 years. Every time he saw him, it was the same “Spin Sista!!” After using Nick York for a while, I wanted to enter a remix contest, but I was growing tired of Nick York. I needed to come up with a new name quickly. That’s when he started using Spin Sista. And from that point on, it’s been Spin Sista or Spin. Ever since then all his tracks have been released under his Stage name.
Spin Sista describes his music as universally adaptive. He loves going out of my comfort zone to prove that producing any genre of music makes me well-rounded. Not only can he produce dance music, but he can produce pop, country, grime, R&B, or any other type of music. He refuses to be a one-stop shop producer. He’s looking forward to working with Metallica as well.
His creative process involves him starting with maybe a vocal (melody). Then, he’ll start writing lyrics. After Spin Sista is satisfied with the flow of the lyrics, he’ll start with some chords. Throw in some bass and drums and just create around that. There are times when he’ll create a track from scratch starting with a synth riff. He’s not a maestro on the piano, but he understands chords and the key to a song.
His inspiration to make music comes from his natural progression in childhood. Spin Sista loved music. He would spend countless hours listening to music. When he discovered Prince and his artistry, he was hooked. Not only did he sing most parts, but he also played every instrument.
People can expect a bunch of new music, content, and videos. Spin Sista started working on his next project. He would love to collab with anyone who is willing. He keeps throwing out lines, but no bites. It’s really frustrating but he’s not giving up. They’ll eventually call but by then he’ll be too busy. Now, Spin Sista patiently waiting for a call. It’ll happen. Not when he wanted it, but when the universe wants it. He would like to start his own record label where the artist owns 50% of their masters and 50% of publishing. It may sound ludicrous, but I think it’s worth it. And he will keep working hard to reach the stage that few do.
